What is Pegasus Spyware?

For the past few days, the topic of discussion is the same in these two places, world politics and technology world. That is Pegasus Spyware. After the incident of monitoring the phones of human rights activists, journalists, lawyers, and politicians of various countries around the world was leaked, this software developed by Israel's private company NSOgroup is now going on all over the world. Let's talk about the spyware that changed the world.


Pegasus is basically surveillance software. Israeli company NSO E has developed the software. With which anyone's mobile goes upside down. It's not a simple oversight. Earlier, only two ends of the conversation could be heard to get a call on the phone. And the hackers take control of the entire phone through the software. Phone conversations WhatsApp chats, pictures, and what information is on the phone is known. The more terrible use is that the person using the mobile does not know that his phone has been hacked. All information is being trafficked to a specific group. But if you want to install Pegasus software on someone's phone, you have to get that phone within reach first. right? Here also Pegasus is a hundred times better than any other hacking software. Common hacking software is sending a link to a website by hackers via email or some other means. Clicking on that spam link will download the software. What is new in Pegasus is that this software can be installed on any phone by making voice or video calls on WhatsApp. Suppose you receive a call from an unknown number on your WhatsApp. You received it.

You will not know that this software will be installed on your phone without your knowledge. You are walking around with a terrible spy inside the phone. Anyone will be surprised to hear what can be done through this software called Pegasus. All data stored on your phone through Pagasis will be transferred to others. Hackers can enter your phone and record the conversation. You can know your location by GPS tracking. Can turn on your camera secretly. Can message, can see WhatsApp messages, can know all Pegasus. Not only that, if you want to trap yourself, any conspiratorial pictures, videos or files can be left on your phone. Later the police will come and catch you. This is why Pegasus is called the world's scariest software. You might be thinking, hey, I use an iPhone worth lakhs of rupees. The security system of this phone is very strong. Then you are in fool's heaven. Android and iPhone are similar to Pagasus software. l


There is no jury to break the iPhone's safe security system. Many people are thinking that WhatsApp or Telegram messages are Pegasus. They cannot be read by anyone other than the sender and receiver. Wrong. If Pegasus Spyware is installed on your phone, hackers can easily take over all WhatsApp or Telegram messages. Not only that, you can also send a message to someone without your knowledge and delete it before you receive the message. You may wonder how a small software can do this impossible. Let's take you back in time. Not far away. In the year two thousand and sixteen. In the same year, researchers learned about an early version of Pegasus. At that time, text messages or emails were sent to the specific person's phone. So there would be no link. If you click on that link, Pegasus will take over the phone. But compared to that time, NSO has made many innovations in their surveillance equipment. Now Pegasus can take over the phone even if you don't click on the link. Again, this spyware can enter the phone by using a software error or bug, the phone manufacturer may not even know about any error.

In 2019, WhatsApp reported that NSO software had sent malware to 1400 phones by taking advantage of such a flaw. For that, only one call was made from WhatsApp to the specific person's phone. And through this call, Pegasus code would be installed on the phone. Recently, MSO started sending spyware using Apple's iMessage software bug. Any such software is usually installed when buying the phone. Like iMessage or very popular software like WhatsApp. Companies like NSO find out the coding of this software. Because it gives the opportunity to remove spy weight on many phones at the same time. In such cases, even if the owner of the phone does not click on the spyware-laden message, his phone is automatically hacked. Forensic analysis of the victim's phones has shown that Pegasus can be inserted into a specific phone using any wireless transmission from the vicinity of the target if the normal technique does not work. Once it gets into the phone, this spyware can capture almost all types of information or files. SMS, address book, call history, calendar, email, and Internet browsing and history can be seen. When Pegasus successfully attacks an iPhone, the software gains administrative power over that phone or device. Pegasus can do much more than what the owner of the phone can do.



Who uses Pegasus? That is, who are the buyers? Let us give some information here to buy the service of Pegasad costs about 4 crore rupees. And to install it on the phone of every ten people, it is necessary to calculate five crore rupees. The question is what was the need to make software? Who spends billions of money using this spyware? And why? The NSO claims to have developed the Pegasus software so that government intelligence and law enforcement agencies in various countries can use it to counter militant terrorists. The Mexican government claims that it has used Pegasus to arrest the drug lord El Chapu, but it is only the flip side of the software used in most countries to monitor opposition politicians and dissidents. It is known that through this Pegasus software, the Indian government was able to hack the phone of the leader of the opposition party, Rahul Gandhi. Not only Rahul but about three hundred people including Supreme Court judges, journalist activists, and leaders of various political parties have been accused of surveillance through Pegasis against the Modi government. All of them are known as opposition to the government. That is to say, the governments were using the people's tax money to ax their power to spy on the opposing ideologues day after day. This happened in Bangladesh after a few days of a phone conversation leak.


Have you ever thought about making fun of them on Facebook? By doing so, the rights of the citizens are being undermined. The personal privacy of people who spend your money is being violated. Did this idea come to mind? The list of Pegasus user countries has not yet been published. But is it possible to guarantee that the name of Bangladesh is not in that list?
